Full Description
{2} All of this wood is planted on ridge and furrow. The ridges are mostly 9m wide with some 4.5m wide, being part of the open fields of Lilford. Lilford was enclosed in the 1630s. A 1794 estate map of Thomas Powys shows that little of the wood was then planted. By 1810 more woodland had been planted with Long Plantation and Paradise Pond marked. The wood did not assume its present form until the mid 19th century.
