Listed buildings
Buildings of special architectural and historic interest. The main legislation covering this designation is the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.

Registered parks and gardens
Landscape parks and gardens of special historic interest. Public parks and cemeteries can be included in the register, as well as the grounds and gardens of private houses. The main legislation covering this designation is the Historic Buildings and Ancient Monuments Act 1953.

Registered battlefields
Historic battlefield sites of note are registered and appropriate protection encouraged. The Register of Historic Battlefields was established in 1995.
