Summary
A mill is recorded here in the 13th century. In the early 19th century the mill was described as 'in a superior state of repair'. Still in operation in 1885, but submerged whe Cransley Reservoir came into use.

Full Description
{1} 1230 A mill at Cransley was granted by Thomas de Braybrooke to Philip de Kelmarsh.
1498 William Pulton, at his death, held a watermill at Cransley.
1815 William Cunnington moved from a post windmill in Kettering to Cransley watermill
1822 Mill advertised for sale where it was described as 'in a superior state of repair, and in full trade, with every convenienceā¦for carrying on an extensive business'.
1885 Described as stone built with tiled roof consisting of ground floor with two pairs of stones and two floors over. It was driven by a 14 feet diameter overshot watermill.
Submerged when Cransley reservoir came into use.
Depicted on Eyre and Jeffries map of 1791, marked as Cransley Mill on Bryant's 1827 map, Driver & Co's 1885 map of Cransley Hall Estate shows the mill.
