Full Description

{1} The medieval moat of a possible hunting lodge, but little other evidence for this interpretation. A mound standing a few feet higher than the rest of the field is enclosed by a ditch. There are also the massive foundations of a building. Fieldname: Hall Close.

{2} Possible moat and occupation site, found in the north-west. Part of the village, probably in 1935–6, during building development. 'A mound standing a few feet higher than the rest of the field and surrounded by a shallow declivity which had the appearance of a one-time moat' was dug into. Finds included glazed pottery and massive foundations of a building.

{3} Miss Beaver could add nothing further to the above information save that the houses were erected 1935-6. Nor could she supply the date of the newspaper article.

{4} Site of Md. building? SP 92268970.
When houses were built in a Field named Hall Close, remains of an extensive building were found.

Workmen made the discovery when they excavated a mound standing a few feet higher then the rest of the Field and surrounded by a shallow declivity which had the appearance of a one time moat.

Finds included glazed and red ware, fragments of a jar of considerable size, and the well-built massive foundations of the building. The article [Kettering Leader] goes on to suggest that the
building formed a part of a Md. hunting manor and refers to "Hunters Manor" held in Little Weldon by the Master of the Royal Buckhounds. No evidence is produced to connect this building with Hunters Manor however.
