1894-1920 Lane family worked the mill

Documentary sources: Eyre's and Jeffery's 1791 map marks it Mill; Bryant's 1827 map marks it incorrectly as Sydenham Mill; 1883 1 inch OS map marks it simply as Mill; 1968 1 inch OS map mark it King's Sutton Mill

The former mill is of two storeys and an attic storey. It is of coursed stone, with a Welsh slate gabled roof. The west side has casement windows with wooden lintels on each storey, with a single door near the south end and a between storeys casement window just to the right of the door, with its sill touching the door lintel. In the south gable end there are recently installed windows ad a door. In the gable is a two light casement window below a segmental brick lintel. Below this there is a wide wooden and glass bay, of the same height as the single door on its right.
Adjoining the north side of the mill is the mill cottage of the same height and breadth as the mill, and similar windows. Its roof is a continuation of that of the former mill. Adjoining the cottage is another two-storey building, its width extending beyond the west wall of mill and cottage. Its roof also is a continuation of mill and cottage but, because of the increase in width its eaves are slightly lower. Brick chimney stacks, with pots, rise from the roof at the south end of the cottage and the north end of the adjoining house.

{7} Post medieval mill comprising building, pond and leat.

{8} Some vestiges of mill related items are still in situ
