Full Description

{1} The mound is marked as a 'tumulus' on a map of Bannaventa and its environs. Possibly a gibbet mound.

{2} Mound close to the main Northampton to Kettering road. On air photos taken in 1947 the mound appears to be trapezoidal pre ploughing, with sides c.22m long. It now survives only as a mound 30m in diameter x 1m high. It is possibly a damaged barrow, but the former Gibb Wood close by may indicate that it was for a gibbet and not therefore prehistoric. Alternatively, its original trapezoidal shape might indicate a C17th gun battery.

{6} A mound 26.0m diameter is situated in arable land at SP82477339. There is no trace of a ditch. Surveyed at 1:2500. Possibly a tumulus but the name "Gibb Wood" to the immediate east (OS 25") may infer simply a gibbet mound.
