{2} Stables and ancillary offices. Probably early-mid C18th for the Powys family. Modified mid-late C19th. Limestone ashlar with stone slate roofs. U-shaped plan. Central octagonal wooden cupola with cornice dome and weathervane. Includes a coach house, and attached courtyard walls, and is linked by arches to the hall. Forms a pair with the stable block on the north side of the courtyard. The courtyard is bounded on north-east side by gates and screens and attached walls. Probably mid C19th. Wrought iron gates and screens and limestone ashlar walls. Central pair of C18th style gates.

{4} Two identical stable and office blocks built on the north side of hall. Both have projecting wings and cupola, and are of a formal composition.

{5} C18th stables at the rear of the hall form part of that architectural grouping.

{6} In the C18th matching service and stable pavilions were added to the north of the house and the north front was given more emphasis as an entrance. They were in existence before 1744. Henry Flitcroft is recorded as working at Lilford from 1744 when he provided designs for the ironwork fence and gateway built between stable pavilions to close the courtyard on the north side. Fig.353 shows plan. Fig.358 is a photograph from the north-east.

{7} Stables buildings flanking a courtyard behind the house are shown.

{8} Shows stable building either side of main house.

{9} Includes stable buildings to each side of house.
