Full Description

{1}The Baptists, Methodists and Congregationalists have met in Wollaston since the 1730s. The Congregationalists built their Independent Chapel in 1752, now the village museum. This closed in 1880 and was taken over by the Salvation Army. After the Salvation Army moved to larger premises, the building was used for de-mobbed soldiers and sailors until the 1940s. The building was largely destroyed by fire in 1970. The external walls are of 18th century build, and the interior of the building has been returned to its original state as after the fire the red brick Victorian upper-storey addition was removed.

{2} Built in 1752; has rubble walls heightened in brickwork. The original building was lengthened to the south in the late 18th century incorporating a gallery and heightened in the mid 19th century.

{3} the original building was lengthened to the south in the late 18th century incorporating a gallery and heightened in the mid 19th century. The wide west front is of three principal bays with round-arched doorway and windows and a lozenge-shaped tablet above the entrance dated 1752. The south extension has a second doorway and window above. Two windows in the north wall appear to have flanked a pulpit and small doorway below one window leads to an early 19th-century vestry.
