Citizen scientists in Northamptonshire are recording historic painted and business signs, some that have survived for around 150 years, through MOLAs Ghosts of Industry project and the Historic Environment Record. The project is funded through the MOLA Impact Acceleration Account, made possible by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). You can now submit your own ghost signs via the website.
Northamptonshire Extensive Urban Survey
The Extensive Urban Survey project is part of a national programme of surveys of the archaeology, topography and historic buildings of England's historic towns and cities, supported by English Heritage [now Historic England].
Northamptonshire National Mapping Programme
The Northamptonshire NMP was started in 1994 and recorded over 14,000 archaeological sites from aerial photographs. The results of this project have been fully integrated into the HER. Various downloads and aerial photographs can be accessed via this link.
