Full Description
{2} Excavation identified a ring ditch with a diameter of 22m. The ditch was up to 1.5m wide and 0.48m deep. A single undiagnostoc sherd of probable Bronze Age pottery was recovered from the fill.
Two external pits were identified 2-3m to the east of the ring ditch. A small assemblage of probable Bronze Age potery was recovered from the primary fill of one of the pits. An upper fill contained burnt cobbles. The single fill of the second pit contained a single sherd of probable Bronze Age pottery as well as burnt cobbles.
{4, 5} The barrow was excavated prior to residential development (Ring ditch 2 in text). It comprised an annular ditch with an opening at its south-eastern side with an elongated pit at the opening. Heavy truncation had destroyed any evidence of its former function; there were no burials or any evidence of a mound or banks.
