Full Description

(1) Other vague circular and rectangular features may be natural/geological at c.SP77225738. NCCAP:SP7757/021-22.

{2} Ring Ditch (SP 7722 5738), lies E.S.E. of Hardingstone on Northampton Sands at 105 m. above OD. Air photographs (in NMR) show a ring ditch 25 m. in diameter and other vague circular and rectilinear features in the surrounding area which may be natural.

{7} A complex of ditches, several of which belong to one or more enclosures of probably prehistoric or Romano-British date. Aerial photography and geophysical survey indicate that the site is restricted to the one field only. The shallow nature of the features revealed in the trial trenching is likely to be the result of recent agricultural practices ie deep ploughing. It is possible that the features no longer survive or only at a very shallow depth.
