Full Description
{1} Settlement remains lying to the north-west of the existing village. The main feature is a broad hollow way up to 1.5m deep, which runs NE to SW roughly parallel to the existing West Street and High Street. Its NE end has been destroyed by modern housing.
Indicates that the village was perhaps once made up of three parallel streets, with the central one being the main street. Such a pattern would have been planned rather than a result of gradual growth. All the earthworks were already abandoned by 1838. Plan of earthworks Fig.146.
