Full Description
{2} A short well preserved section of tramway ‘hollow-way’ which survives in scrub woodland immediately to the W (cSP64345762), truncated by the edge of the sandstone quarry.
The limestone quarry working face survives several metres high in a long arc along the southern perimeter of the quarry. The tramway cutting which served the quarry, ran north south down to this face. It survives as a prominent earthwork feature and contains at least one length of in situ rail line. The whole area is heavily overgrown and wooded.
Assessed on present evidence as being of at least local importance. Potential for re-opening of sandstone extraction?
