Map

Type and Period (2)

Full Description

{1} A large pit at the corner of the excavation was over 2.4m wide and at least 0.4m deep, although it could only be partially excavated. Pottery dating to the 10th or 11th centuries was found in the lower fill, while pottery dating to the 12th-13th centuries was found in the upper fill. A gully, aligned north-east to south-west, was 2.7m long, up to 0.56m wide and 0.20m deep. It terminated to the north-east and entered the pit at the south-west. Both the fill of the gully and the upper fill of the pit were the same indicating the two features may have been open at the same time. Pottery from the gully also dated to the same period.
