Full Description

{3} A hollow way lies at the east end of the village immediately north of and parallel to the existing road. It is the original road out of the village and formerly joined Church Street north of the present crossroads. It is 10m wide and 1.5m deep. Both the hollow wany and the present road were in use in the 17th century and the hollow way was not abandoned until after 1829. Some indeterminate earthworks, including a scarp up to 1.5m high, at the east end of the hollow way are the remains of buildings still shown on the 1829 map.
