{2} In 1853, during the excavating for iron ore at Hardingstone, a large number of bones and teeth of different animals were found, as well as an antler of a large stag. There were also a great number of broken pots, Roman, inlcuding decorated Nene Valley ware, apparently deposited at the same time. The bones were on a floor of stones, placed to receive them, and were covered with fine dark soil.
A map, traced from the OS map, was sent marking the situation.
