Full Description
{2} A scatter of Romano-British pottery and fragments of tile and building stone (some dressed) were found in 1975.
{3} Size of fieldwalking survey was 5 hectares. Confirms that finds present, but no further information. More detailed information awaited from fieldworker's database.
{4} Geophysical survey identified numerous positive magnetic anomalies, mainly within Area 1. These appear to represent buried ditches forming a series of about 12 rectangular and curvilinear enclosures. These evidently intercut and represent at least two phases of development. A possible circular enclosure was also detected.
Morphologically the features are likely to represent former Iron Age and Roman settlement of at least two phases. Several other linear anomalies reflecting former ditches or further enclosures extending southwards.
{6} NH 20 Listed as the possible site of a Roman villa.
