Description
Manor house. Dated 1695, altered C19, with C20 additions and alterations. Coursed squared limestone with ironstone dressings, plain-tile roof, stone end stacks. 2-unit central staircase plan. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Central C17 style doorcase of 1934 with 6-panel, part-glazed, double-leaf doors. Leaded cross windows to ground and first floors with moulded stone sills and surrounds. Chamfered plinth, moulded storey-band, chamfered quoins, and stone-coped gables with kneelers. Nogged brick eaves and C20 roof dormers. Left gable end has two narrow one-light windows to ground floor with moulded stone sills and surrounds and pairs of horizontal oval windows at first and attic floor levels with moulded stone surrounds and datestone to gable inscribed TH/AD/1695. Large 2-storey, 2-window, C20 extension to right. Attached wall to left angle encloses forecourt and has ridged stone coping and chamfered quoins to outer angle. Wall runs to left gatepier, framing gates on axis of front door. Gatepier has chamfered base, chamfered rustication, double moulded caps and ball finial. Interior: ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams; open well staircase with turned balusters; bolection-moulded wood corner fireplace surround in upper room.
