Description
House, former rectory. Built 1842 for Reverend J.C. Williams, architect Edward Haycock of Shrewsbury. Older farmhouse origins. Coursed squared ironstone, slate roof, brick ridge and end stack. Irregular double-depth plan. 2 storeys, 6-window range. Irregular front of 2 large and one small central gable with pinnacle above large window lighting staircase. Porch centre right has 4-centred arch doorway with hood mould, datestone panel above inscribed ICW 1842, and ornamental shaped gable. 4-pane front door. Slightly projecting wings either side have brick stacks with rounded angles to gable ends. 2-light leaded wood mullion and transom windows throughout with flat arch lintels. 2-storey canted bay to right side. Interior: staircase with stick balusters and mahogony rail. (Peterborough Diocesan Papers: Northants Record Office).
