Listed Building: Church of All Saints (1372349)

Church. C13 and C14, remodelled C17, restored C19. Squared coursed lias with limestone dressings and Colleyweston slate roofs. Aisled nave, chancel, south chapel, west tower and south porch. Elevation of south aisle and south chapel of 3-window range of C17 four-light square-head windows with arch-head lights. South door to right has C17 four-centred arch head with drip mould. South aisle has lean-to roof with cast iron gutter and ashlar gable parapet. South chapel has C19, steeply gabled, stone slate roof with ashlar gable parapets and corbelled eaves. C14 south porch to left has chamfered and moulded outer arch and shallow gabled roof. Roof structure has some original timbers with moulded bosses. East wall of chancel and south chapel comprises a pair of gables, that to the chancel has a C19 three-light window with Y-tracery with a finial above. North elevation of chancel of one-window range and with C17 four-light square-head window with arch-head lights. Steeply gabled C19 stone slated roof with ashlar gable parapets and corbelled eaves. North aisle of 2-window range of C17 four-light square-head windows with arch-head lights. Blocked north door. C19 two-light east window. Lean-to roof with ashlar gable parapets. Nave clerestory of 3-window range of 2-light square-head windows with wood mullion. C14 west tower of 3 stages with 3-stage clasping buttresses to lower 2 stages. C14 two-light west window in lower stage and 2-light bell-chamber opening with transoms to each face of upper stage. Plain ashlar parapet. Various C18 and C19 inscribed tablets attached to outside walls of the church. Interior: 3-bay nave arcade of semi-circular double and single chamfered arches. Those to south are C13 and those to north are C14, all with octagonal piers. C19 chamfered and moulded chancel arch. 2 C19 half round arches to south chapel, now vestry. C19 roof structures: some original timbers may survive in the nave. C18 fielded panelled pulpit. C18 and C19 panelled dado to aisle walls. Monuments: south wall of chancel, brass to Ann Boroeghe died 1577. South chapel: east wall has late C18 wall tablets to Griffin family and C18 and C19 inscribed brass tablets in floor below, to same family. North wall of north aisle: various tablets to Hungerford family that to centre is black and white marble surmounted by a flaming urn. West wall of south aisle, brass tablet to Countess Beatty died 1932, wife of Adairal, Earl Beatty. North aisle east window has early C20 stained glass.
