Description
House. C16, C18 and C19. Squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Originally probably 2-unit plan with cross-wing, now L-shape range. 2 storeys. 3 bays. Bay to right breaks forward slightly and may have been a cross-wing. This has a one-window range of casement windows with glazing bars. Wood lintel at ground floor and hipped half dormer above. Centre bay has 2 single-light windows with glazing bars, to first floor, under wood lintels and leaded casements to ground floor. Blocked s ngle-light window with stone surround and arch-head, to first floor right. Centre bay also has 6-panel door with rectangular fanlight and diamond pattern glazing bars, all under stone lintel with keyblock. Bay to left has large lateral stone stack, with weathering. Upper section of stack is rebuilt. Left gable has large C20 bay window and casement window under wood lintel. Long range attached to rear of this elevation is C18 and C19 with casement windows. Left gable has sash window at first f oor and casement window at ground floor, both under wood lintels. Interior not inspected but rooms to left and right of entrance noted as having remains of open fireplaces and moulded beams. Doorway to rear has wooden segmental lintel. Roof of east range noted as having 3 trusses with arched braced cambered collars, butt- purlins and wind braces. (RCHM: An Inventory of Architectural Monuments in North Northamptonshire: p104)
