Description
Cottage. Late C15. Altered C16/17 and C19. Uncoursed limestone rubble, slate roof, brick stacks on left gable and left of centre. 2 unit lobby entry plan. 2 storeys. 2 bays. Central dooorway with C19 gabled stone and timber porch with 4 panel door and side lights. On either side, 3 light windows with wood lintels and C20 casements. Similar windows on first floor. Rear extension probably C17. Interior: Raised cruck construction. Sooted rafters above central fireplace indicate an earlier open hearth. A ground floor room has girders and stop chamfered joist. Another room has a moulded joist suggesting late C17 alterations. Stud partitions. Open fireplace with bread oven. Stone stair in rectangular turret at rear. Evidence of earlier fixed vertical wooden ladder.
