Description

Garden building. Dated 1641. Limestone ashlar, slate roof. 3 bays. Central door with eared moulded stone surround and segmental pediment flanked by windows with similar eared surrounds. Chamfered quoins. Tuscan capitals without pilasters either end and to central bay, moulded entablature and central pedimented attic displaying coat of arms, flanked by quarter-circle curved walls. Attic framed by pilasters with fanciful strapwork ornament. Finials to gable of pediment and at either end of flanking walls. Side elevations of 2 windows with eared stone surrounds, lead rainwater pipes heads dated 1641 and moulded stone cornices. Bracketted stone cornice to rear. Moulded stone doorcase and ball finials to angles. Interior has circular niches with plasterwork wreath surrounds above doors and to side walls at same level. Tomb of pug d.1754 with inscribed marble slab raised on marble supports carved with collar on shield with coronet above and prancing horse supporters. (Park and gardens included in H.B.M.C.E.
