Description

Lodge. Probably early C19 and by John Raffield. Coursed squared limestone and ironstone slate roofs and brick ridge stacks. One and two stories; 3-window range. Central 2-storey, pedimented pavilion has 6-panel part-glazed door with fanlight and round-arched head, flanked by narrow 8-pane sash windows to form tripartite Venetian-window style composition. Door has stone surround with imposts continued over windows as stone lintels, the whole set within round-arched recess. Round-arched sash window to first floor above and to flanking single-storey wings. Head of 1st floor window projects into pediment gable and has stone surround, those to wings with keyblocks. Stone-coped walls terminated by plain piers hide lean-to roofs of wings either end.
