Description

Pair of cottages. C.1800-22. Red brick in Flemish bond with flared headers, graded slate roofs, brick ridge and lateral stacks. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Blank central door and windows to 1st and attic floors, all with pointed arched heads. Single-storey flanking wings with lean-to roofs. 2-light Gothick casement windows with pointed arched heads and timber Y-tracery. Central attic window in pedimental gable. Deep overhanging eaves. Entrance to left and right sides, with gabled brick porches. One of a group of 4 semi-detached cottages on south side of the Green, forming part of a model estate village. Built for the 3rd Earl of Pomfret. (Buildings of England: Northamptonshire: 1973, p265)
