Description
Includes No. 5 Main Road and attached gateway. Inn, now 3 dwellings. Late C17 and early C18. Regular coursed limestone with thatch and Colleyweston slate roofs. Together comprising an L-shape range. 2 storeys. Elevation to Robbs Lane is a 4-window range of irregularly spaced casements under wood lintels. 2 sash windows with glazing bars to ground floor left, one has gauged stone head. Central C20 door also under gauged stone head. Ashlar stacks with moulded cornices at ridge and end. Evidence of re-fenestration to ground floor far left. Elevation to Main Road has gable to right with 2 tall C20 casements, with glazing bars, under wood lintels. Central casement, with glazing bars, to first floor. Thatch range to right has lower eaves level. Range to left has Colleyweston roof with ashlar stack, with moulded cornice, to end. Rear elevation is similar with plank and panel doors. Wooden gatearch with ogee head attached to left of No. 5. Interior of No. 1 not inspected but noted as having remains of open fireplaces interior of No.3 has spine beams and some plank doors. Room to left of entrance has C17 panelled overmantle, probably reset. Formerly the George Inn.
