Description

Bridge. Late C18, doubled 1835. Coursed squared limestone, with red brick arches and brick parapet to east half; all painted. Double-span bridge with elliptical arches. That to older, west half has narrower span and is somewhat lower. Wide at the ends, the bridge narrows and then curves outwards again at the centre, the two halves meeting in the form of a cutwater. String course at base of parapet which dips at the centre. Channel under east span is not in use. (K. Falconer: Guide to England's Industrial Heritage: 1980, p170)
