Description

House. Mid-late C17, extended C18, altered C19 and C20. Coursed limestone rubble, painted, shingle roof, brick end and ridge stacks, the latter with stone base. 4-unit plan. 2-storey, 5-window range. C20 door to right of centre with wood lintel in C20 porch. 2-light casement windows to ground and first floors, except for 3-light casement to ground floor left of centre, all with wood lintels. Blocked door to right of present door with wood lintel. Eaves raised in brick following removal of thatch, windows originally in eyebrow dormers. Ridge stack probably former left end stack of C17 2-unit plan house, section of house to left of stack being a C18 addition. Interior. Chamfered spine beams and open fireplace with cambered bar-stop-chamfered bressumer. Another open fireplace with chamfered bressumer. 3-bay roof to earlier half of house substantially original with collar trusses and 2 tiers of purlins. House has been three cottages.
