Description
Riding school. Mid C19 for Seventh Earl of Cardigan of Deene Hall. Pale red brick with Welsh slate roof. Circular courtyard plan. Open arcade to courtyard has square wooden posts between bays. 2 carriage entrances to courtyard, one giving access to Stables approximately 50 metres north-west of Deene Hall (q.v.). The outer walls, between the entrances, are blank. Pitched roof. Interior: the outside walls are battered internally to stop riders clipping the walls. The riding school was built for the exercising of horses. Several bays have been converted to garages C20.
