Description

Gateway lodge. Dated 1901, by Charles Dorman for James Manfield, a Northampton shoe manufacturer. Dressed ironstone with limestone dressings. Hipped stone tile roof with exposed rafter ends under deep eaves. Large axial stack rising from apex of roof with ashlar shafts and cornice. PLAN: Square on plan, facing entrance to drive. EXTERIOR: 1 storey and attic. 2 bay front. Five-light stone bow window to right and 3-centred moulded arch doorway to left with side light. 3-light stone mullion attic w . tone above in large gabled dormer. Half-dormers to left and right sides. Metal frame leaded pane casement windows in stone frames. INTERIOR: not inspected.
