Description

Statue. Early C18 by John Van Nost. Limestone ashlar panelled plinth with lead statue of wrestling figures said to be Samson and the Philistine based on the original by Giambologna. Forms part of formal layout with statues approx. 30 metres south-east (q.v.) and approx. 60 metres south-east (q.v.), statue plinth approx. 60 metres north-east (q.v.), gates, gatepiers, railings, walls and attached summer house extending to approx. 300 metres north, south and east of Harrowden Hall (q.v.), gates, gatepiers and railings approx. 300 metres east (q.v.) and steps 10 metres east of Harrowden Hall (q.v.) and Harrowden Hall (q.v.). (The gardens and park are included in the HBMC County Register of Gardens at Grade II*).
