Description
Local digging in 1971 uncovered a fine mosaic with central unidentified bust, probably late C3, and hypocaust tiles in what is presumably a villa bath house or bath block. No small finds, or walls investigated (excavation to continue after harvest.) Magnetometer survey shows where buildings are concentrated. Aerial photographs show only faint features (possibly Iron Age ditches) in adjacent field. {AM7} Substantial spread of roof tile noted in 4m wide strip of ploughsoil in filed immediately east of scheduled area. {AM107 1984}
