Description
House. C17 origins altered C18 and early C19. Squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Originally L-shape plan. 2 storeys. 5-window range of C19 cross casements at first floor, under eaves, with ashlar surrounds. Similar central C20 casement with low cill, at ground floor, has narrow moulded stone lintel with keyblock. 2 six-light sash windows, to left, have low cills and similar heads. 2 similar sash windows, to right, under wood lintels. Central 6-panel door under arch-head fanlight, with glazing bars. C19 cast iron porch. Ashlar gable parapets and brick and stone stacks at ends. Gable to left has three 2-light stone mullion windows with cyma moulded mullions and evidence of fourth window, now blocked. Rear wing, to left, has similar 2- and 4-light windows, to ground floor, and a large C19 casement to first floor. Rear wing is formed of two C17 parallel ranges. Gable end, to rear right, has a 2-storey, five-light, canted bay window, with cyma moulded stone mullions and slate roof. Ground floor windows are blocked. Similar 2-light stone mullion window to attic, above, is also blocked. Left gable has first floor plank door and a single-light window with moulded stone surround to attic, now blocked. Elevation to right of main front has 2 small single-light windows with stone surrounds and triangular heads, to first floor. Rear elevation of main range has central plank door and casement windows, one with leaded lights. Lean-to extension at intersection of wing . Interior not inspected but noted as having some early C19 fittings, stop-chamfered spine beams, remains of C17 panelling in ground floor rooms and arched roof trusses.
