Description
Gatehouse. Early C19. Yellow brick, slate roof, brick ridge stacks. 2-storey, 4-window range. Main front to east has round-arched staircase/bridge spanning canal with iron handrails leading to perron and door giving access to first floor. 12-pane sash windows throughout. Stone cornice and blocking course. Octagonal painted wood cupola with louvred circular panel on main face, panelled frieze and octagonal leaded dome. Rear elevation to west has round-headed arch spanning canal with portcullis within blank windows either side and to first floor. Lead rainwater pipes.
