Description

House. C17. Squared coursed limestone, now painted, with thatch roof. Originally 2-unit through-passage plan. Single storey with attic. 3-window range, at ground floor, of C19 casements under wood lintels. Centre window has crude flanking buttresses and was a door. 2 eyebrow dormers with leaded casements and some early glass. Small triangular stair window, above doorway, to right. Plank door, with glazed panel, under wood lintel, to far left. Brick and stone stacks at ridge and end. Interior: room to right of entrance has open fireplace with bressumer and stop-chamfered spine beam. Through-passage passes behind the stack. The house was used as 2 dwellings during C19 and part was used as a dame school. (RCHM: An Inventory of Architectural Monuments in North Northamptonshire: p129)
