Description
Cottage. Dated 1707 with C19 alterations. Coursed limestone rubble, thatch roof, brick ridge and end stack. 2-storey, 2-window range. Two-unit lobby-entry plan. C20 door just left of centre with wood lintel in C20 gabled porch. Sundial above door and within porch with inscription to face: Memorandum/those 4 Elms was/planted on this hill/in Feb. 1709 by RW AC and RB. 3-light casement window to ground floor left, 2-light casement to ground floor right, and similar window to ground floor far right, all with wood lintels. 2-light casements to 1st floor in eyebrow dormers. Left end stack has datestone to base inscribed 17 W O7/RA. Interior has chamfered spine beams and blocked inglenook with C19 cast-iron range.
