Description

Steps from parterre (q.v.) to orchard. c.1909-12 by Sir Edwin Lutyens. Convex steps to a circular platform from which descending concave and convex flights contain a second small round platform. Curved retaining walls on either side. Walls uncoursed limestone rubble with stone coping. Limestone ashlar steps. (C.Hussey: Ashby St. Ledgers; Country Life, 1951, p.499 (illustrated).
