Description

House. Probably C17 origins, mainly mid C18. Squared coursed limestone with concrete tile roof. Originally probably 2-unit plan. 2 storeys. 3-window range of sash windows with glazing bars under stone lintels with keyblocks. Window heads to left-hand bays are linked by flat ashlar band. 5-panel door to right of centre under C19 wooden hood. Chamfered plinth. Ashlar gable parapet to right and central rebuilt brick stack. Straight joint above door may be evidence of blocked window. Right gable has sash window at first floor, similar to the front and C20 bow window at ground floor. Interior not inspected but noted as having panelled window reveals. "The Cottage" (q.v.) adjoining may originally have been a cross wing to this house.
