Description
Late C18 (?) stone built bridge, with six semi-circular arches with projecting keystones. Cut waters not all of which are carried up to parapet level, to make refuges. Two most northerly arches are smaller in scale and have a recessed moulding above them. No downstream cutwaters. Earlier at this point stood “Barnwell Bridge”, described by Leland as having “5 great arches and 2 small”. Crosses stood originally at each end of this bridge. {AM7 1974}
