Description

Manor House. C17, front C18, raised mid C19. Coursed squared ironstone with limestone dressings, slate roof, stone end and ridge stacks. Central staircase plan. 3 storeys with basement to right half (former kitchen and dairy); 3-window range. Central 4-panel C19 part-glazed door, approached by 2 semi-circular steps, in eared stone architrave with keyblock, cornice and broken segmental pediment on carved console brackets, framing an urn truncated by lead flashing over pediment. Sun-dial dated 1858 above, and circular first floor leaded window with moulded stone surround. 16-pane sashes to ground and first floors with limestone sills, jambs and flat-arched heads with keyblocks. Third storey of poorer masonry with 2-light casement windows with timber lintels. Quoins and stoen coped gables with kneelers. Small leaded oval window with stone surround to right gable. Left gable end has small rectangular first floor window with hood mould near front angle. Rear has single storey C20 brick extensions, a mullion and transom leaded window with hood mould to middle of first floor, other 1-and 2-light mullion windows with hood moulds, and 12-pane sash with wood lintel to first floor left. Interior: stop-chamfered spine beams, open fireplace.
