Description
House, now 2 dwellings. Datestones 1659 and SG 1730 remodelled early C20 for Charles Rothschild by W. Hackvale. Squared coursed limestone with thatch roof. Originally 3-unit plan. Single storey with attic. 3 window range of early C20 three-light stone mullion windows, those to attic are under eyebrow dormers. C20 doors, to left and right of centre, are under artificial stone lintels. Ashlar gable parapets and ashlar ridge and end stacks, with moulded cornices. Datestone 1730 above doorway to Vine Cottage has moulded cornice; datestone 1650 above window to left. Fire insurance plaque to right of doorway. C19 wing to rear remodelled early C20. Interiors not inspected, but Thatchers Cottage noted as having an open fireplace with bressumer and stop-chamfered spine beams.
