Description

Lodge gateway. Late C18/early C19. Red brick with ironstone ashlar facing and sandstone dressings. Double hollow-chamfered 4-centred Tudor-style arch with hood mould and trefoil cut spandrels, with Knightley arms above. Moulded plinth, offset angle buttresses, battlemented parapet with moulded and hollow-chamfered string course below. Blocked doors between arches left and right with 4-centred heads. Formerly flanked by single-storey one-unit wings providing accomodation for the lodge gate keeper. The arch stands at the entrance to Badby Woods on one of the former drives to Fawsley Hall.
