Description
Manorial earthworks crowning a spur of a hill immediately south west of Wollaston village. Earthworks are complex and difficult to interpret, but there seems to be a main platform at north edge of area, with several subsidiary building platforms to south. (In 1086 there were 2 manors at Wollaston; this site is the remains of the lesser of the two. Probably belonged to the Countess Judith in 1086, assessed as 2 hides; later became known as Hall Manor to distinguish it from Bune Manor, originally the castle site. {AM7 1977}
