Description

Manor house. Datestone 1570, C17 and late C18. Squared coursed ironstone and limestone with slate roof. Double-depth plan. 3 storeys. Garden front remodelled late C18: 3-window range of sashes with glazing bars to first and second floor. C19 French doors to ground floor have glazing bars and moulded wood surrounds with cornices over. Ashlar gable parapets and stone stacks at ends. 2-storey, 2-window range to right of garden front is probably late C18. Entrance front to rear of garden front has late C17 gable with parapets and finial. Two 6-panelled doors, one with hood supported on cast-iron columns, and sash windows with glazing bars. C18 barn with C19 roof attached to left of entrance front. Interior: room to right of garden front has C16/early C17 open fireplace with a moulded stone surround. Datestone 1570 in first floor room is reputed to have inscription attached.
