Description

Manor House. Mid C17. Restored early C20. Squared coursed lias with asbestos tile roof. Originally 3-unit plan with cross wing to the right. 2 storeys with attic. Main front: 4-window range of 3-light stone mullioned windows with hood moulds. Central C20 door has moulded stone surround and 4 centred arch head, the flanking windows are 4-light stone mullions with hood moulds. Central dormer has 2-light stone mullion window and ashlar gable parapets and kneelers. Left gable and cross wing have ashlar gable parapets and kneelers. Stone stacks at ends. Elevations to left and right similar with stone mullion windows. Cellar under left bay has 2 stone mullion windows. Rear extended in early C20. Interior: Room to left of entrance has C17 corner fireplace with moulded stone surround. Room to right of entrance has large C17 open fireplace with moulded stone surround decorated with roundels. Room to far right has remains of open fireplace. 3 first floor rooms have C17 fireplaces with moulded stone surrounds. Staircase to attic retains some original splat balusters. (R.B.
