Description

1914. Tudor style, by A C Blomfield. 2 storeys in coursed stone with ashlar dressings and slate roof. Verge, apex and end finials. 2 gabled wings flank centre section, which has moulded gable with mullion and transom window of 10 lights to each storey. Strings continue dripmoulds. 2 4-centred doorways under porches of 2 storeys with parapets to sides with 3-light fanlights, stone mullions and with 3-light mullion windows over. Wings have 2 windows of a single light over 6-light mullion and trans m windows. Ground floor has 2 windows of 2 lights, transom only, flanking 1 of 6 lights. Strings continue heads of windows. Plinth. Central bell cupola with leaded roof. Milton Road elevation has range of 4 gables with finials. The centre 2 have windows of 6 lights, the end 2 of 4 lights, mullions and transoms. 6 windows on ground floor. Stone multi-flute chimney stacks. The Science Building and Yarrow House form a group.
