Description
Manor house and attached cottage, now one dwelling. Probably late C16 and C17 with datestones: 1714 and 1737. Regular coursed lias with thatch roof. U-shape plan with cross wing to left. 2 storeys and attic. Main front of 6-window range of irregularly spaced C19 casements under wood lintels, those to right have chamfered stone sills. Gable to left has leaded attic casement. Central C20 door under flat hood. 4-window range to right has 2 stone gabled eaves dormers and ashlar gable parapets and kneelers. 2-window range to left is probably late C17 and was added to main house as a separate cottage. Datestone to right of gable 1737 may refer to raising of eaves parapet. Brick and stone stacks at ridge and end. Rear has projecting wings to left and right; that to left has datestone 1714. C19 square stone bay window in centre. Interior: most ground and first floor rooms have stop-chamfered ceiling beams. Small open fireplace with chamfered bressumer in first floor west room. 2-panelled and plank doors. Fanlight with leaded diamond panes and original glass in cottage. Dogleg staircases. Blocked C17 window with diagonal wood-mullions in east gable of attic of main house. Original roof structure.
