Description
School now house. c.1775. Squared coursed lias with plain tile roof. 2-unit plan. 2 storeys; 3-window range of C19 sashes, tripartite at ground floor and 2-light at first floor, all under flat arches. Central C20 glazed door has flat arch with C20 hood. Ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks at ends. Inscribed tablet over door, "This charity school founded endowed by the will of Sir Edmund Isham Bart. for the boys and girls of Hanging Houghton". C20 extensions to rear. Interior not inspected but room to left of entrance noted as having open fireplace with bressumer. (Buildings of England: Northamptonshire, p.244)
