Description

House, formerly rectory. C17 with possible earlier origins, rebuilt early C18 with C19 additions and alterations. Coursed limestone and ironstone rubble to older portion, coursed squared limestone to C18 range, old plain-tile roofs, brick ridge and end stacks, all on stone bases, except for end and ridge stacks to left. 2 storeys and attic; 10-window range. 3-window range to left of centre breaks forward slightly and forms C17 core. 4-light wood mullion window to ground floor. 2-light casement window to right. Both have wood lintels. Two cross windows to first floor, both with stop-chamfered wood lintels, that to first floor left flanked by ends of hood mould of original wider window; blocked window to first floor left. C18, 2-storey, one-window addition to left with cross window to ground floor and 16-pane sash window to first floor, both with wood lintels. Further one-window extension to far left, raised to 2 storeys C19 with red brick to gable wall. Plank door, and 16-pane first floor sash with wood lintels. Portion to right of centre has central part-glazed door with overlight in moulded wood surround, flanked by 2 flying buttresses with offsets supporting tiled hood to door. 12-pane sashes to ground and first floors, all with timber lintels. Plinth and stone-coped gables with kneelers. 2 hipped roof dormers to older portion. Interior: 2 rooms with fielded panelling, one with Tudor-arched stone fireplace with arcaded fluting. Dog-leg staircase with turned balusters.
