Description

Stables. Early/mid C19. Squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and slate roof. L-shape plan. Part of 2 storeys. Courtyard elevation of wing to right has central gable with blind, 4-centred arch-head recess. 6 coach house doors to right with 4-centred arch heads and door with similar head and flanking windows to left. Ashlar gable parapet and kneelers. Rear of this wing facing the gardens is plain with similar central gable detail. Elevation of wing attached at right angles to left is of 2 storeys, 4 bays. Two 2-light stone mullion windows, with 4-centred arch heads, to centre and right. 2 C19 plank doors with similar heads between windows. Irregular fenestration of C19 casements, to first floor, under stone lintels with keyblocks. Brick stack at ridge. Hipped roof to right and ashlar gable parapet to left. Rear elevation is attached to Biggin Hall (q.v.) by small archway. Interior not inspected. Included for group value.
